We are committed to collect, use and disclose your personal information responsibly and only to the extend necessary to the services we provide.

What is Personal Information?

Personal Information is the information related to an individual’s personal characteristics, health, activities and views.

Primary reasons for collecting Personal Information:

RMTs, as all other medical professionals, collect, use and disclose personal information in order to better serve our clients and to provide safe, effective treatments, and/or to refer them to other health care providers if massage therapy is not the right treatment option for them.

Secondary reasons for collecting Personal Information:

  • To invoice clients for services rendered or to process payments using a credit card.
  • To provide information to the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario), as part of regulatory activities in the public interest.
  • To confirm services rendered in the case of an audit from your insurance company
  • Online booking. We collect personal information that is necessary in order to book and secure your appointment with us.

Duty to report RMTs, as all regulated health care professionals, have a duty to report suspected child abuse or neglect, as well as suspected elder abuse. Providing personal information is required for reporting.

Information protection

Your personal information is protected under the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and is kept safely for 10 years after your last appointment. Paper information is secured in a locked area. Electronic information is secured and protected by passwords. Staff is trained to collect, use and disclose personal information only when necessary (in order to conduct their duties) and always in accordance with this privacy policy.

Your information can be shared with other health care professionals unless you indicate that your information should not be shared.

You can have access to your information at your request, after giving us your request in writing. We may charge a nominal fee for this service.
